Charnwood Country Residence Care Home, in Much Dewchurch, was the first care home to be rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), in Herefordshire back in 2016, has again been rated Outstanding after a recent inspection.

During the unannounced inspection, the CQC found that residents at Charnwood Country Residence, ‘were truly respected and valued as individuals; and empowered as partners in their care in an exceptional service. Ensuring people are well treated and supported; respecting equality and diversity.’ It also noted that the staff supported residents ‘in an exceptionally kind and caring way.’ And residents felt ‘valued and respected by staff.’



The CQC also reported that the staff ‘demonstrated a compassionate approach to a person living with dementia, which helped them to feel cared for and loved.’ It added that ‘there was a thoughtful and inclusive approach to organising interesting and meaningful occupations and activities for residents, which enhanced the quality of their lives.’ And highlighted that the Group employed a physiotherapist to support residents enhance their mobility and an Admiral Nurse (who specialises in dementia care) to provide support and guidance to people living with dementia.


The
CQC look at five key areas and rated Charnwood Country Residence Outstanding in
three areas – Caring, Responsive and Well-lead and Good in both Safe and
Effective.
